Job Description

Essex Bank’s fast-growing Loan Department is looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of Loan Operations Supervisor. This role oversees loan servicing and post-closing operations across both residential mortgage and commercial loan portfolios. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be detail-oriented, and bring strong customer service, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.

Qualified individuals must also be able to manage multiple tasks such as:         

  • Oversee loan onboarding, servicing setup, ongoing maintenance, and system updates.
  • Ensure accurate processing of payments and residential mortgage servicing activities, including escrow administration, insurance tracking, and real estate tax administration.
  • Review / Approve payoffs, releases, subordinations, modifications, extensions, and other post-closing servicing actions for both residential and commercial loans.
  • Oversee commercial loan servicing activities including construction loan advances and lines of credit, with documentation review, covenant/condition support as applicable, and disbursement controls.
  • Ensure timely completion of year-end servicing functions, including annual statements and IRS reporting.
  • Supervise / Assign / Monitor / Implement staff workflow; prioritize daily work; monitor queues/exceptions/aging; implement corrective action.
  • Escalate / Resolve complex servicing issues, customer inquiries, and system-related problems.
  • Train / Coach / Mentor / Develop staff; support onboarding, development planning, and cross-coverage.
  • Ensure / Escalate compliance with internal policies and applicable servicing/post-closing regulations; escalate issues and control gaps.
  • Support / Maintain / Respond in audits and exams by maintaining records and responding to information requests.
  • Review / Reconcile / Resolve / Identify / Recommend reports and GL accounts; resolve exceptions; identify trends/gaps/training needs; recommend improvements.
  • Serve as backup to the Mortgage Origination Supervisor, supporting QC reviews and HMDA/CRA validation/reporting.

 

  • Qualifications

Education/Experience: Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) and 5–7 years of progressive loan servicing/loan operations experience supporting residential mortgage and commercial loan portfolios. Leadership: Prior supervisory or lead experience required; demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and guide staff in a fast-paced environment.

Technical/Regulatory: Strong working knowledge of loan servicing systems and post-closing processes, including residential escrow administration (taxes/insurance) and commercial servicing activities (advances, lines of credit, modifications/subordinations), with working familiarity of applicable servicing and compliance requirements.



  • $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 annual salary
