JOB TITLE:    CRA/Community Lender (Greater Hartford Market) 

REPORTS TO:  SVP, Chief Lending Officer   

DEPARTMENT:   Residential Lending  

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the SVP, Chief Lending Officer, originates mortgages and participates in community/business development activities to ensure attainment of Bank loan origination goals and achievement of other Bank objectives through sales or referral activities.  Ensures loan quality meets underwriting standards and that loans are in compliance with Bank policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and secondary market guidelines.

Experienced CRA/Community Lender with over 5 years of expertise in providing lending solutions and opportunities to first time homebuyers and homeowners, with an emphasis on underserved markets within low to moderate and majority minority census tracts in the Bank’s assessment areas.
 

Responsibilities:

·         Proficient in analyzing and underwriting loans for residential housing in underserved areas. 

·         Experience in conventional, construction, CHFA and FHA lending products.

  • Build strong partnerships with ongoing and continued outreach to community groups, local government agencies and departments, housing authorities, and non-profit organizations to develop concentrated housing opportunities for low to moderate income families in majority minority census tracts for first time homebuyers and existing homeowners.
  • Cultivate and maintain key market relationships with realtors and focus on goals related to increasing the Bank’s residential loan originations in low to moderate income areas and majority minority census tracts.
  • Identify potential investment and service opportunities within all markets. Identify opportunities to enhance presence by either sitting on committees of community organizations or identifying opportunities for other employees with the organization.  
  • Research, then develops and maintains relationships with, organizations and agencies within designated market areas which are focused on providing services to low- and moderate-income communities.
  • Provide education guidance to borrowers, community groups, realtors and others in all market areas related to programs, products, and services in lower income areas and majority minority census tracts.  Provide appropriate counseling or resources to guide applicants not currently qualified in order to improve potential future lending opportunities
  • Research, then develop and maintain relationships with, organizations and community-based meetings, to promote lending opportunities in a fair and responsible primary focus of providing services to low- and moderate-income communities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and Laws.
  • Follow regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), Fair Lending Laws and Regulations, and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering and other unlawful activities.  

Knowledge, Skills, Requirements:

  • Adhere to compliance of all applicable Federal and State bank regulations, as well as Bank policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability to interact well with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and work independently.
  • Proficient in Loan Origination systems, Excel and Microsoft Suite Word.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a high production environment, requiring enthusiasm, self-motivation and a positive attitude.
  • Expectation for this role to be an active participation in community events to include bank approved board/committee participation.
