Accounting Representative
Essex Bank, a growing, dynamic, community bank, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Accounting team!
Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, responsible for various daily and monthly general ledger reconciliations, monitor branch cash orders, track Bank investments, assist in preparation of assigned financial reports for management and perform a variety of functions.
Responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable – responsible for all Accounts Payable functions. Open/sort mail, prepare invoices for payment, confirm validity and proper approvals with respect to bank policy, accurately enter invoices into software, produce checks for signature and mail. Upload transaction files to GL and Positive Pay timely.
General Ledger - accurate posting to general ledger on a daily basis; timely report production for staff and management. Reconcile various general ledger accounts such as branch cash, wire suspense, official bank check and various other suspense accounts. (daily & monthly); research outstanding items and professionally interface with department managers and staff as needed.
Prepare quarterly sales & use tax reporting; assist with year-end 1099 reporting; maintain vendor insurance, W-9, contracts and purchase order files. Prepare quarterly tenant receivable billing. and other reports, as assigned. Maintain records retention for the Accounts Payable and General Ledger area as assigned.
Supply ordering for the department and 2nd floor kitchen supplies, order AP checks as needed. Order and refill postage machine funds and supplies.
Cross-train in other accounting duties and provide support to department staff.
Other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications required for this position are as follows:
Associate’s degree in Accounting and/or relevant experience or training
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF)
Willingness to learn accounting software and proficient calculator skills
