2022 Bankers HR Conference

Thursday, October 6, 2022 (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The 2022 CBA Bankers HR Conference will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cromwell, CT from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with refreshments/registration at 8:30 a.m.

The day’s agenda will be structured to incorporate time for bankers to network, share best practices and ask questions.  It will be facilitated by Jim DeMaio of Learning Dynamics along with presenters Bill Florin, Barbara Rutkowski along with Pat McHale, Esq. of Kainen, Escalera & McHale, P.C.  This informative, full-day conference will address many top-of-mind topics faced by HR professionals including:

Data-Driven Decision-Making for HR Directors (Bill Florin, Learning Dynamics)
Human resources information systems (HRIS) offer access to vital data to inform the decision-making process. From turnover and compensation to learning and development activities, HR leaders have visibility to and can measure impacts linked to organizational priorities. But data in and of itself is not sufficient to make good decisions. This timely session will offer some ideas on how to think about thinking, how to avoid common errors in the decision-making process, and, ultimately, how to use data as one of the tools to make profitable, performance-affecting managerial recommendations and choices.

Employment Law (Patrick J. McHale, Esq., Kainen, Escalera & McHale, P.C.)
Compliance issues and laws affecting human resources management are always top-of-mind for HR professionals.  This presentation will focus on the many legal aspects of human resources.  Among other topics, Attorney Pat McHale will discuss PFMLA and other laws protecting employees’ requesting leaves of absence from work as well as legal requirements for payment of wages to employees, including a discussion of exempt vs. non-exempt employee classifications.  He will also address some of the pitfalls to avoid when classifying workers and will offer best practices, recommendations and more. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask Pat questions on any personnel-related topic they may be dealing with.

CT-PFMLA (Erin Choquette, Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel of the Paid Leave Authority)
Erin will join us for a brief update and Q&A.

Succession Planning & Continuous Performance Management: A Strategic Partnership (Barbara Rutkowski, Learning Dynamics)
As organizations strive to develop effective succession plans it becomes increasingly clear that continuous performance management is crucial to plan success. It is not enough to identify at-risk positions and create development plans for key talent. To thrive in today's business environment, organizations must build an agile workforce, well-prepared with the leadership competencies and technical expertise to answer not only current but future challenges and business needs. We will explore the points of intersection between succession planning and performance management where we leverage our best efforts to empower talent to not only meet the needs of today but realize our vision of tomorrow.
